The main purpose of the packing support plate is to support the packing in the tower, arid at the same time to ensure the smooth passage of gas and liquid phases. Structured packing requires only an open grid supported by steel flat bars. The support grid for structured packing has an open area greater than 96% of the column area.

For columns less than 800mm in diameter, a whole shap support grid can be used. For columns greater than 1000 mm the segment plan should be used. This can be provided in different flat bar heights depending on strength or open area requirements.
